Gambia on an airhead?

Storm is back home ready for some final fettling, mechanics and electrics sorted and even a one off rack mount made for the rear sub-frame.

Busy few days ahead, its 6 months today until the start of the trip so better get the finger out. :thumb

Oil cooler is fine in the mounting position it was designed for but have issues with the take off points fouling the custom exhaust so for the moment its not fitted.

Would not be an issue with a standard bike but the Storm ain't standard :blast :D

I will be having a word with my engineering friend ;)

Come to think of it I haven't heard from him for three weeks :blast

What luggage are you going to put on that bike with that back end?
Whats the thinking behind taking a one off bike with non standard parts when you have a nice Basic that you could just bung a pair of Zegas on?

If one got trashed / stolen, which would you prefer it to be?

Not too many airheads going to Gambia either so it's a one off for that trip, IMO.

Luggage? Wait and see, not giving it all away in one post ya know! :augie

have a cracking Basic yes, but a likewise cracking 80 g/s PD but where's the fun in taking those? :D

Route is currently in discussion and not been finalised but would be interested in hearing which way you went, if you like I can PM my email address.

Lot more on the trip over on the Calum's Road thread in the open invite trips section if you need something to while away an hour.:thumb

Ours is sea on the right:blast

Finally sorted the front brake for the bike. :bounce1

When I got it it had a 19 inch centre spoked tubeless front rim fitted combined with the caliper from a Yamaha FJ100 which was too wide to fit with my preferred 21 inch cross spoked tubeless rim.

As mentioned previously Harrison Billet were able to supply a 6 pot caliper like that originally fitted to the bike but I then found I needed a new caliper mount and adapter for the Spondon 320mm disc.

Local machinist came up trumps and fabricated both items for me, just got them fitted yesterday. :JB

Well finally things are starting to come together, but much sloer than anticipated and a lot of the delays a direct result of dealing with a one off like the Storm. The very nature of the beast and what makes her something special are yhe problem, the custom rear sub-frame for example, phenomenally strong but fabricated and designed around a WP shock so the new Ohlins I'd sourced just wouldn't fit. :blast

Luckily I'm friendly with an suspension guru who is also a distibutor for Ohlins so he gave me some options, change the sub-frame or strip the shock and build a one off for the bike.

After a lot of discussion and head scratching a decision was reached. Fit a WP and get on with it so with that sorted , the forks serviced I picked up the bike this morning and started fitting some bits, by tea time its starting to come together, well I think so. :rob
