You know him Proff..a choice from six gearboxes; four engines; three shafts; two frames; ten panniers...he'll decide on the morning of his departure what his bike will look like:D

A morning which is approaching far too quickly!

Had to make a couple of changes on the luggage front, I'm keeping stuff to a minimum honest but need more space. :augie

Have you fitted a new battery? Nothing worse than planning a big trip and the m/c won't start the morning you set off :augie:D

New Odessey was fitted in June, so should be ok although you just never know. :blast

Fingers crossed :D

Nothing like the sound of the engine firing up on the morning of the off :D Good luck :thumb

My mate was met by just a "click" as the magnets fell off his Valeo starter on the morning of his departure... luckily he had a couple of days in hand to get down here.
Disappointing for all those that turned out at 08:00 to wave him off though:D

Are you lot trying to put the scud on me? :D

Stripped and rebuilt the starter in August, well stripped and rebuilt a spare starter in August after the original went click after the magnets fell off it! :blast

Roger – good skill with your trip. If you have never been to Gambia before, spending time with these people will change your life.

I have some great memories form my time there, I cycled from UK to Janjanbureh where I worked for 10 months setting up a clinic to vaccinate infants. Take lots cheap Bic pens and small writing pads, they are excellent rewards when people help you out. I gave a leather football to a school where I was teaching, I still getting letters from the teachers at that school 17 years later

I am sure they would have resurfaced the South Bank Road since 1992, if not; take care of the large vehicles wanting to share your less pot-holed part of road. If near Dakar take some time to visit Goree Island (UNESCO site) more than 30 million slaves passed through the compounds enroute to US and Europe.

Packed, fettled and ready for the off. :bounce1

Leaving here about 8 this evening heading for the ferry to Birkenhead. Will have a few swallies and an early night, Birkenhead docks at 6.30am in the current climate should be interesting

Thanks to all who have helped in so many ways over the last year, it's much appreciated believe me :thumb

I'll be posting as I go and people on here will know where I am but under the current circumstances I'll not be able to do the daily blog I'd planned, reports will be delayed for reasons of security and to stop my creditors finding me.

Ride safe you lot, I'll be in touch! :P

Travelling light then :D

Have lots of fun in the sun :thumb2

Just out of interest, these creditors that are after you, you're not a Cypriot who owns a credit card payments clearing company .....
