Garmin 2610 or 2720?

Yes, the Garmin Motorcycle Mounting Bracket that is provided for the 26xx series fits the 27xx series perfectly. Same bracket, same power cable, same everything. The two series (26xx and 27xx) are the same physical size. The Garmin bracket mounts onto a RAM backing plate.

Yes, to attach onto the Garmin *010-10495-00*cradle requires, the RAM round base, RAM-B-202 where the RAM cradle has the moulded imprint of a diamond base, so its a RAM-B-238.

thanks for the reply pan now anyone got any links to a uk supplier for a 2720
Uh, it's not for sale yet. I'm testing a pre-production model. Not sure when it will be for sale - probably later in the fall - October, perhaps??? (That's just a guess, I'm not a Garmin employee, just a Garmin volunteer).

MNC show it as in stock at £919.99  This would tie in as a Canadian site is showing it as available from 26th August. :nenau

Think I'll wait until Crimble before making a decision on Quest or 2610 - apartment purchase out of the way, bonus from work, tax rebate due etc :D

2720, still no internal battery. A big mistake by Garmin.

I thought about that, probably something to do with the power required, if not then definitely a mistake. Like the Quest with no card slot, why didn't they put one?

I get the impression that the different models are becoming more specialized in their purpose. The 26xx and 27xx don't have batteries because they are intended for automotive navigation only, the assumption is that there will always be power available from the vehicle. My guess is that the Quest does not have a card slot in order to keep the size and the cost to a minimum.

Wise move. Sorry to repeat myself, but: An Americas version of the SP 2720 will not work in Europe! It will navigate just fine, provided you load the appropriate maps in it, but you will never be able to use the TMC service.

So I wonder how long it will take Bee Em to catch up with their branded version of the 2720?

Now that I have sold my Triumph and have some cash I'm on the hunt for a GPS again. The 2720 looks tempting. Has anyone taken the plunge?

In answer to that, my understanding is not long. The current Nav IIs are being sold off cheaper than before and with alot of preloaded info and with a Garmin and BMW rebate of $240.00.

It is still more expensive than a 2720 which you can get for $757.00 from one of the outlets here in the USA.

BMW verision out just before Xmas I believe.
