Garmin banned in India-how to get permission

I’m sticking this here - but possibly not the right place …….

Earlier in the thread it mentions using a local sim in your phone in northern India for nav rather than Garmin.

In Ladahk recently on our trip we found that no one’s phone worked in Ladahk. - regardless of whether it had a UK sim with India roaming or a local India sim bought at the airport in Delhi /Chandigarh etc

This appears to be because of the constant very high security state there so close to the border with Pakistan and they are somehow ‘blocked’
I was told that if you tried to even buy a local sim up in Ladakh as a westerner you are asking for trouble and a knock on the door from the Army? 🤷‍♂️

The only comms anyone had was via WiFi calling / WhatsApp at the hotel.

Using offline maps DID work as I had MRA running but a lot of roads are not shown and it’s VERY easy to take a wrong turn.

No sooner had we left Ladahk back into himachal pradesh and everything data started working again.
