As of the next but one big MacOS upgrade (OSx 28) Apple are discontinuing Rosetta support. Rosetta was a kind of bridge that allowed Intel based apps to run on Apple silicon, to give developers a chance to update their apps. It looks like Garmin will not update either Basecamp or Express.

So far I believe they will continue on Windows.

For Mac users with Apple silicon this means don't update the OSx past OS x27, or switch to Windows.

Or, I suppose, switch to the useless Explore app.

I think moving to their online offerings is the game plan, as they are platform independent..........shite but platform independent :D

On a serious note I can't believe any of the team who developed Mapsource and Basecamp can be involved in the online offerings. While folks don't like the Basecamp interface its functionality is way in excess of anything out their. As for the online stuff, how can MRA, OSMand, DMD2, Kurviger etc all seem to do a better job than Garmin??

Also, what about the Tread app thing? Is it for mobile devices only? As far as I can see, the XT2/XT3 route creation app is Tread, but I can't see a way to run it on a PC.

I have't looked at Explore for a couple of years - is it still crap?

The route planning tool on Explore is still crap. There is some sort of delay between opening a route or track and it showing on the screen. The routes between shaping points and Via points are straight lines and the result of the route is only visible when calculated by the device. Its a bit of a mess. I think there is an apple silicon version of Tread? but I don't have an IOS device. Looking at the Garmin Zumo forums most disconnect tread from XT2/3 except for traffic data.
