Weird :eek

I just read the description of everything this new gizmo does at the Garmin website - I honestly don't know what to say. I notice, though, that it does not include a depth gauge for checking remaining tread on the tire, nor does it provide accurate weather forecasts or satellite maps for the next day's riding. I have no idea how they could have overlooked those two features - heck, it seems to have everything else included...

On a more serious note, the big question for us is whether it is waterproof or not. I kind of doubt that it will be, but I have made an inquiry, and hope to have an answer for us soon.

Looks great, but they've missed the party again when it could have been almost perfect.

200MB storage, or 700 with the 350 version.

Fine, but if it's doubling as an MP3 player (great idea actually, one device to do it all etc) then it needs to run on cards that you can pgrae to 2gb on......you won't get bugger all on 200 meg with the maping you need :(

That device, that small, with solid state memory of about 500meg for the whole of europe, with SD or similar cards up to 2gb for MP3's, waterproof, bluetooth and so on, and they'd have it made.

 Like they haven't already

It does have a slot for SD cards Bill, the screen looks a bit small though and if it was waterproof they would probably say so.

When you select the product comparison feature on the garmin website and compare it to the quest, you will see it's NOT WATERPROOF (IPX0, where 0 stands for not water resistant at all). Number of routes and waypoints you can store is also limited.

Useless for us bikers and a missed opportunity for Garmin. Would have been nice though... I wonder what their target market is.

Cheers

I asked, they replied - the Nüvi is as waterproof as a sugar cube, which is about on par with other MP3 players. Don't even dream about using it on a motorcycle, unless you are planning a trip across the Sahara desert.
