Garmin NuMaps

Can anybody tell me if the Numaps are worth getting for the Zumo 550 at £99. I've only had a 550 since Xmas and have noticed a lot new road work is missing (last 2-3 years). so is it worth the update as a one off payment.

If you only bought the unit last Xmas you most likely should be entitled to a free map update...have you registered the unit with Garmin ? What mapping version is on the unit at present ?

Hi Jaws, Yes I have registered with Garmin, currently running on 2007 mapping.

You should be on much more recent maps than 2007 if you only bought it at Xmas! I'd query that with the retailer you bought it from.

I tend to buy an update every other year. They're still out of date though. I bought an update last year for a trip to France and found 2 year old changes had not been updated. Someone put me onto a useful trick - when a new version comes out, go to somewhere like Halfords and have a play on it, check out a few roads/places you'd expect to be updated, and make a decision from there as to whether you think the update is worth it.
