Garmin Nuvi 310 and RAM mount

Bought a Nuvi 310 for use in the car and found I liked it so much I wanted to use it on my GS. So I've been using it in a waterproof map pocket velcro'ed to the tank. Not ideal but at least it works (of sorts). Came across a RAM mount today (RAM-B-149Z-GA21U) and wondered if any of you good souls had used (and would recommend) the RAM mount system as a secure way to hold a GPS on your bike.

If the feedback is good I guess I'd purchase from 'gps warehouse' as it was their site I spotted it on. Are they a reputable dealer?

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm new to this GPS lark.

I have exactly what you're contemplating and find it to be very good - the RAM mount is, indeed, secure (from falling off, though not from theft).

I have a GS1200 and use a Migsel GPS mount, with a short RAM arm, and a RAM Nuvi Mount - it shakes a little, mainly at tickover, but is not bad.

This setup puts it just above the left-hand 'clock' (do you know I can't remember whether this is the rev-counter or speedo when I'm not on the bike!).

You have to remember that the Nuvi is not waterproof, but this is a protected area behind the screen (even with the cockpit screen that I have).

So, if you don't want to buy a Zumo, my advice is to go for this setup - it is certainly safer than having the Nuvi in a tank bag and taking your eyes off the road.

Oh and RAM do a locking knob for the arm, so that you can leave the arm/cradle on the bike!
