Can anyone help?
My Nuvi 660 keeps saying "No data available" when I try to input an address:mad:

Anyone know why??:nenau

Hi,
are you trying to find an address which is outside of the country that the sat nav is set for? eg sat nav set for find city or post code in England and your looking for an address in Scotland. then you just have to change country.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't even get that far. I press the address icon and it bleeps up "No data available". Normally it then asks you where the address you want to input is,,, i.e. England, Scotland, Wales etc:nenau

When the unit's on (at home say...) what does the map show? Properly rendered roads near you or a very blocky straight-line type of thing with only the nearest A-road?

Thats exactly what its doing! It won't show any really local roads, as you say, just local A roads 2-3 miles away and the M5 5-6 miles away:mad: even when I try to zoom in as much as possible

Just the basemap then.

Pfff... difficult to say exactly what-to-have-to-do. It's a PITA at the best of times.

Dunno what map you paid for or if you have lifetime updates but stay calm.
I presume 'you' have registered at garmin?
Get to the website at my.garmin.com and log in
Then plug in your Zumo and carefully follow the destructions.
Hopefully by this time tomorrow you'll be sorted!
Initially I'd suggest you attempt to re-load the map you have paid for already rather than panicking if they're saying there are updates for you to buy. Keep a cool head...

Mine's been on for four hours but we have a slow rural internet service.

It's probably worth checking that the mapset is switched on, ie that the box next to City Navigator in the map info is ticked. My Zumo's in the car at the moment and I can't remember the exact menu sequence.....

When it starts up - click:
Tools
Settings
Map
At the bottom, click Map Info.
That will tell you what's on there - and what may 'not' be ticked. Expect info about the map like CN Europe NT 2012.30 and also one with 3D for building info.
If they're there (even an older version) but not ticked - sort that and back out to the main screen.
If that's not making sense - get back onto the mygarmin site and start over as the Merkins say.

Could be worse - you could have a TomTom.

Right, tried that, and nothing happens when I press Map info on the bottom bar:blast, apart from it makes an unco-operative bleep:blast

Have you recently done a map update or been tinkering around on the internal memory with the GPS plugged into a PC?

On the 660 all the mapping should be on the internal memory, if you had a 550 it could be down to having the mapping on an SD card.

As said above, assuming that you have a myGarmin account with the Zumo registered and you bought it within the last 12 months then you should be able to retrieve the mapping as an update. Go here and follow the instructions.

If you have a fully unlocked version of the mapping on your PC in Mapsource you could also recreate your mapping data from there. To check if it is fully unlocked find the unlock code in your myGarmin account and then, in Mapsource (assuming a recent version), click 'Utlities' > 'Manage Map Products' and click the 'Unlock Regions' tab. Now double click the mapping version you have, or had, on your Zumo. This should show the unlock code that should match that in your myGarmin account. If it does then you can create a new mapping data file from your own PC.

In Mapsource zoom out to 500 miles so you can see all of Europe. Select the map tile tool an drag across the whole map until your select everything. This should give you 372 map tiles at 2.22GB (City Nav 2012.2, other versions may well vary) in the Maps pane on the left. Now plug in a USB stick with at least that much space free. Now click the send to device icon and select the memory stick, ensure that the Maps checkbox only is ticked. Now click send. This could take a few hours to build the index files depending on your PC. Watch TV or go to bed...

Once complete you will have file named 'gmapsupp.img' in a folder, called 'garmin', on your memory stick as well as a .gma file with a series of numbers in front of it.

You now need to back-up the following files from the 'garmin' folder on the internal memory of your GPS to the hard drive of your PC; 'gmapprom.img' and 'gmapprom.gma'. Once you've done this rename the files you created from Mapsource which are now on your memory stick and transfer them to the 'garmin' folder on the GPS.

Now unplug the GPS from the PC let it boot up, now reboot the Zumo by switching it off and on again and pray...

The above method will only update your mapping data, 3D data and probably junction view might no longer be operational depending on if these files were also corrupted.

If you can do it any other way then go for that...
