Has anyone bothered subscribing to the Garmin Outdoors +maps? I thought I'd have a look,30 days free then £4.99/month (cancellable) but they are a royal pain to install, it seems it can only be done direct to the device over WiFi - 6 hours so far and only 1/3 way through.

I'll persevere if they're any use but so far seem like another Garmin "to hard to do" item

I’ve now got a 710i and a 760i from Garmin.
So far they’re behaving with the SD cards in them.
However my gut says they’ll fuck them up soon enough. At which point they’ll be sent back on their promise of a full refund for them, the SD cards and cradles.

No. It seems inordinately complicated. It requires a sign up to either Garmin Connect, or Explore, or maybe both.

I signed to Connect but that’s really some kind of Strava type fitness tracker which auto uploads all the data to the connect website, which I don’t want it to do so I turned off the upload.

I do have an explore account, but don’t allow sync. since it deleted all my TET tracks while I was in the middle of a 1500km trail trip.

The maps are supposed to download direct to the device over WiFi, which I’ve tried and even though my WiFi runs about 800mbps after 12 hours it was only a third the way through.

So I gave up, cancelled the subscription and downloaded the free Gravel map topo maps instead
