Garmin Quest Bare Wire Cradle

Has anybody got knowledge as to why garmin's cradles are in such short supply? I know several people have now got them, but I've had one on back order from the states for over a month and can't source in the UK.

Is the GPS power take off plug fitted to the wiring loom of the 1200GS a standard type?

I don't think so. You can buy a lead from BMW to connect that power socket to the BMW Navigator, so you could always cannibalise such a lead to get the plug. But that would probably be expensive.

I just tinned the bare ends of my power cable and pushed them into the socket. Then secured the wires with insulation tape and a cable tie. It's been working flawlessly like this for months.

I don't think so. You can buy a lead from BMW to connect that power socket to the BMW Navigator, so you could always cannibalise such a lead to get the plug. But that would probably be expensive.

Mouse, The socket you mention has three wires entering it. Which of the two (colours) do I use for my GPS? Whats the third one for anyway? Thanks Dave
