Garmin release Beta firmware update for Steetpilot III

Beta though it may be, this adds a much needed ability to be able to create a route on the unit using Via Points.

How many times have you wanted to be able to travel to one place via another? - well check the beta out and particpate with feedback to Garmin and the site if you experience problems.

Thanks for the Link, Slick.....

....downloaded a couple of weeks ago & the new stuff worked fine until yesterday. I wanted to plot the fastest time to my dealer, in Norwich, via a small village somewhere in the wilds about 15 miles south. I programmed the SP lll to find the dealer, then inserted the village as a via point. It came up with the route, no probs.
The snag came when, about halfway to the village, I had to go off route due to roadworks. Bitching Betty did her usual 'off route, re-calculating' & then gave me a new route - but directly to my dealer, not the via point. Any ideas?

I too loaded this version, but haven't had any probs with it - apart from a sneaky-beaky suspicion that route calculations take a little longer.

Garmin did say that this was a Beta version. Why don't you give them a bell and see if they are aware of the fault?

...just been to Garmin's site to do just that & found they released new software yesterday (V 2.4). One of the enhancements is the retention of via points when re-calulating - Result!

If I can just work out how to post a link.......

FF, yes, it seems to. The link in my last post will take you to the site which lists the improvements/enhancements of V2.4.
