I'm off for a short trip soon - 3 days and 3 routes.

My pal sets up the routes on his Garmin, but I'd like them on Google maps, as it's "live"

He's sent me them as gpx files - but I'm struggling to get them onto my phone, so aciess via my Chigee 5 - help please!

Search for "Google my maps"

Click "Create map"

Click "Import"

Drag or browse to your GPX file.

However, there doesnt seem to be a way to then use your created map for navigation.
which is a bit shit.

This appears to be some functionality that they have released for the Indian sub continent?? In the UK and the rest of europe google My Maps is primarily for planning and visualisation of routes, not for turn-by-turn navigation as Berin pointed out above. Therefore, while you can see your My Maps route in Google Maps, you can't navigate it. Being able to see it on the map zoomed in might be enough??

If not to get turn by turn directions on your Android Auto/iOS Carplay device you need an app that can give turn by turn directions from a GPX. I use My Route App and OSMand+. But, Tom Tom, Kurviger and possibly a few others use can be used in Android Auto/iOS Carplay mode. Other navigation apps can only be used on your phone so be careful when choosing. All of the apps have a learning curve and require a bit of learning/experimentation.

Thanks,
I was hoping to see the route on my Chigee AIO5, which mirrors Google Maps - I'm not sure if I upload (for example) My Route whether I can get the Chigee to see it. However, as you've gathered, I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area.

Any app that is Android Auto or Apple car play capable will run on your phone and the Chigee screen. My Honda screen is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capable. I have an Android Phone and run Google Maps online for point to point navigation and use MyRoute app and OSMand+ for gpx navigation. I also occasionally run Spotify for online music or muscolet for offline music stored on my phone. Whatever you end up using one person to lead the other follow as often two different nav systems can take different routes:D

That's very helpful, thank you (y)
