Has anyone got a street pilot 3? If so is it any good? Are they worth £299 new? What do they look like on the bike?

Yes.

It's obsolescent now, having been effectively replaced by the 2610. It has a slower processor than the 2610 so takes longer to calculate routes and re-draw the screen. It also uses a dedicated Garmin memory card, the largest of which is only 256 Mb and which is comparatively expensive.

If it's worth £299 to you then it's worth it. Suffice to say that I paid about £600 for mine just over a year ago from a cash 'n' carry so that was cheap at the time.

What do you mean "what do they look like on the bike?" ? It's a piece of electronic equipment designed to perform a function. I can understand wanting to know what the display looks like but other than that it's not s'posed to be a fashion accessory you know.

What I meant was, does it block the clocks etc at all when mounted.....

That would depend upon how and where you mount it. There's no one set solution to that.

...what were you doing in Betws-y-Coed on 8th Jan 2005 at 16:23??

It was good when it came out, but it's been totally superceded now by the newer generations of kit.....

I used to have to park up and wait a minute (literally) to allow it to recalculate if I ballsed up with mine....my quest is fast enough that I can carry on driving and within seconds Betty will pipe up and sort me out.

£299 new??? no way.....for literally just another 30 quid you'll have a brand new Quest......and unless you're seriously into retro kit and are a luddite to boot, I can't see that being any sort of choice whatsoever TBH.
