But if you didn't have, would you still buy another over a 2610 (or similar)?

Neither have I. I use 4GB built in RAM and an USB interface.Steptoe said:Everyone has a photographic memory, but some don't have any film.
SPIII = £100 on ebay, 2610 = £300. I'd probably still go for the SPIII as I only use if for touring. If I used it for other reasons that would require rapid auto re-routing in cities, I'd probably go for the 2610.Greg Masters said:But if you didn't have, would you still buy another over a 2610 (or similar)?

I used one quite happily to guide me around Germany (and Berlin city centre rush hour traffic) only 15 months ago. I was so impressed that I bought the 2610 8 months ago and now they're discontinued - hell I reckon they only produced them for about 2 years.![]()
If you're on a budget the SPIII will be ok, but for an extra £150 (and probably dropping) you can get a 2610 which I am seriously impressed with. Yes, I did find the recalculation time of the SPIII long in comparison with the 2610 (in reality it was probably a minute) but I used to just pull over and wait for it. Don't forget that with the SPIII you will probably need a 256 Mb data card if you're touring Europe, which makes the 2610 even more attractive.![]()
wondering how you were getting on...my daughter phoned to say you had collected....hope it goes ok for you....fritz said:Well having picked up Mick's GPS from somewhere we had never ever been, turned it on, and auto routed to somewhere else I had never ever been I can say if you can find a SPIII for under £100 (or thereabouts) it's well worth it.
Very impressed. As a starting - and learning - point, well worth saving the £2-300 until fully versed in vaguaries of GPS use.
Yes re-routing isn't amazingly quick - but then neither is my use of the thing so not a problem. (and nice tips here already -ta) Buy and learn![]()
Only dissapointment is that though it's large, it wouldn't double as an offensive weaponlighter than I expected
