Hi all,
I'm new to this stuff and have a very nice second hand unit ( today) purchased from a site member.
Its got all the CD's , Cables, registration cards, mounts, batteries. Bike mounts ( touratech)

I only want to use UK Maps at the moment so how do I do that then?
When I switch the unit on it says:

Brest France, and a few more french names as map source.

I'm going on holiday this weekend ( in the car) and want to try the unit out in the UK.
I'm not the best with this computer stuff so is there a

STEP BY STEP VERY SIMPLE ( EVEN I CAN DO)
way of solving this before Saturday!"

HHHHHHHHHHHHHhEEEEEEEEEEEEEellllllllllllllllllllllllllllPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP:thedummy

All this jargon is new to me for instance" Whats a way point?" Its as basic as that for me
All I want to do is type in a post code ( UK) and follow the GPS.

but how do I get it to recognise the UK?

The display map on the screen is in the UK where I am but It gives me a French address ( strange format to me) and will not find a UK post code for a new route

God a map looks easy compared to this!!!!

Magwa:confused:

Magwa,

I haven't used an SPIII but I have a 2610 which also comes up with French mapsets when loading. This is normal for the 2610 so I assume also for the SPIII (if I am wrong somebody will be along quickly to abuse me and set you right).

Take it outside and let it boot up fully and find satellites. If everything is okay and the maps include the UK you should end up with your current location being shown on the screen.

A waypoint is simply a location that you wish to go via. E.G. if you lived in London and wanted to go to Edinburgh but had to stop off in Bristol on the way, you would set your home in London as the startpoint, your destination in Edinburgh as the endpoint and your destination in Bristol as your waypoint. Then let the machine calculate your route.

Simple ( I hope).

Was that the sound of incoming I heard :hide

Magwa,
Take it outside and boot it up and down the garden until it finds a few satellites. If everything is okay and the maps include the UK you should end up with your current location being shown on the screen.

Surely there must be an easier and more gentle way Warlock:augie

That's typical of you. Take a simple statement, change it to suit your own nefarious purposes and then present it as fact.

Hang on a minute. We do that too. Damn.

I think Ive done it

Well deleted the french stuff and uploaded UK maps
I'll try it tomorrow

Cheers all

Magwa;)

PS

It took 3 hrs to delete/ upload as I used the old style connector to the computer instead of the USB cable and the card..........
Dooh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
