On swapping my XT over to my new wee bike the garmin cradle won’t power up the gps .
These XT leads ( as opposed to the XT 2 leads ) are quite scarce at the moment , ain’t been able to buy one .
So here’s a fix in case it helps anyone else .
The small rectangular box in the lead is a 12v to 5v dropper , the same voltage as a standard USB charger .
I cut the box off - spliced in a male usb plug which powers the gps just fine when plugged into a USB socket .
I have a lead coming12v to a rubber usb socket which I will plug the gps into then wrap the junction with rubberised tape .
USB has
Red = + pos
Black = - neg
Green data - cut off
White data - cut off
Some cables only have red , green and white , and use the external screening as the - neg
The garmin lead has a single white cable in the Center - + Pos
And uses the screen as the - neg .
Easy to do and will see it working till I can source an XT 12v lead .
