Garmin Zumo 660 Virgin

Post 16 ... :nenau ... 📞?
Reset- video here NB that a hard reset may well require you to have Garmin Express to reload the units latest operating software as it will bring the 660 back to factory settings.

Restore / clean up - all sorts of options
Deleting files whilst clearing out works too but get that wrong and you can brick your unit
As a minimum:
  1. First job is to sort out your unit
  2. Second job is to download any operating software fupdates rom Garmin for that unit
  3. Third job Maps - evaluate IF and I say IF you can update your city navigator maps
OR if you do not wish to get involved with Basecamp, then You just need the map image which can be placed either in your satnav or on a micro sd card ( once you have it).
As I said before I can talk you through if you make the time and are in front of your PC and are freshly clear headed please!

... now where's Baza 07  he's like trying to nail jelly to a mast!!

He’s got it (or getting it) to work….

See post #17

He’s hopefully now happy and his device knows how to take him from A to B.

It still won’t have it but I’m trying all angles before throwing the towel in 👍
Stick with me fella’s 👍👍

Can you be a bit more specific as to the problem now, please.

Last we heard, you were installing the maps, presumably to the new SD card, with a couple of hours or so to go.

OK, seen that now. Thank you.

There’s now two problems, separate from each other:

1. Installing and then activating the full map set onto the fellow’s PC.

2. Installing and then activating the full map set onto the 660.

Do i need 1. and 2. or can i just have 2. on its own ???

You will need:
1-Garmin Express installed if, for only:
1) getting units latest operating software
2) downloading city navigator maps IF available.

You can ONLY download the maps to your PC if you only want sections of maps but then you will need to create a map.
Both require you to have installed Basecamp.

IF
You are not fussed about getting the latest software for your Zumo
And
not fussed about City Navigator

Then you do NOT need Basecamp nlor Garmin Express but you will need to download the OSM maps, ready made as a .img file ready to put in your Garmin folder either in your zumo or on a sd card inside a garmin folder.
I will ring laters.
