Clinging to reality by a finger tip.
Is anyone using Garmins data card reader with Virtual PC5?

Or could anybody shed some light on data error 'cyclic redundancy check'.

 So close but yet so far:rolleyes:

Thanks.

Russ.

Had info from a buddy who went through this with the software manufacturers that VirtualPC doesn't handle the translation of PC to mac serial ports correctly, therefore cannot use it to run the Garmin software.

thanks for the info.

I can run Mapsource fine except downloading maps to GPS via serial port takes *hours*. This I could live with [just] but it's also very unreliable, that's to say the download could chuck it's hand in after 1Mb or 8Mb or anywhere inbetween. The most I've ever got onto a datacard is about 8Mb worth of map.

really thought I had it sorted with this reader.

From Connectix Web Page.

The USB Data Card Programmer for Garmin GPS does not appear to work correctly with Windows via VPC.

Issue:

Following Garmin’s detailed instructions, the installation of the USB driver software appears to be successful and the device is recognized by the system and associated software. On attempts to actually transfer data (read or write), however, the user immediately gets a "USB Data CRC Error" message in Windows.

Solution:

Connectix is investigating this issue.
