....and he survived and they didn't lose him in the mountains

I'll have to upload my photos and everything, but soon some pics of a most excellent adventure in the borderlands thanks to Garry, Robbie & Gaz. What a cracking weekend. Pics and story when I have recovered.

Lots of :D, plenty of , sufficient :augie and a good amount of :blast

First most thrilling instalment to follow...

Just a few pics to start off...

Look, like much of mid-wales, a clearly signed 'Road', part of the Offa's Dyke path

314025348_nEor2-M.jpg

Lucky is was signed as you wouldnt know

314025676_MULSh-M.jpg

You can see them riding off into the distance, hoping they have lost me :D (I think that's Robbie on the saturday after lunch run....with lunch being 3pm

But back 'on track'...

Day 1 was a bit of a taster with Robbie & Emma

and a hay-fever suffer's nightmare

Some of the lanes were a little overgrown, from the saturday, a '3 antihistamine day' for me

314015945_6Zui2-M.jpg

You couldn't see the ruts for the vegetation, so it made for testing going, but Emma chops through the undergrowth.

314017136_i9NaN-M.jpg

Emma and Robbie clear the vegetation

314016346_wySEt-M.jpg

And some lovely open winding tracks, fantastic riding, beautiful and relaxing

314021037_Xg8ow-M.jpg

314021374_xFPmP-M.jpg

314022058_74FCY-M.jpg

And onward they went after a late lunch, fantastic scenery

314023074_hJyKu-M.jpg

Some not-so-wild life

314024429_qfSzz-M.jpg

Tracks that are just fields

314026945_WfSw3-M.jpg

or tracks through copses

314027216_mKFhz-M.jpg

314027520_x6XLp-M.jpg

Everything you could want for a nice day out in the lanes

314028118_6R5XH-M-1.jpg

314026334_A2uG4-M.jpg

Including a few stoppers for the rabbit :thedummy , more about that tomorrow :augie

Day 2 later on....

Keep it coming, Rich.

Hope your riding companions will contribute a few shots as well... :green gri :augie

:kissy2

Day 2.....

Here's the story according to the pesky wabbit...

So after a good night's sleep at mummy's :thedummy due to 3 antihistamines, the worst hayfever for years and 4 pints I drowsily got prepared for the big day out with Garry, Robbie and Gaz. Was it to be  or more likely . Probably a bit of both :thumb.

Starting to like the Beta and it seems to be behaving itself, waking it up after a sleep in mummy's garage

314028419_5ZjQj-M.jpg

So we head for the trails but find ourselves into a series of mechanicals on the home-made HPN . First it is disabled by a twig removing a plug lead. Second, a few miles up the road the exhaust clamp breaks. No pics, but cable ties came to the rescue.

Anyway, we head up into the hills on a great grassy track, would be slippery when wet.

314029085_pC4jv-M.jpg

Garry says it's a piece of cake.

314029375_HjppD-M.jpg

314029678_cPUN6-M.jpg

So after a look at the view and a snack, we head off. I nip off to the next gate. I don't really 'do' gates as the Beta doesn't really 'do' neutral. But no sign of Robbie and Garry. Gaz goes back to take a look.

314030254_3E92j-M.jpg

and comes back to report

314030802_crfDX-M.jpg

Oh no, the HPN is disabled again. Looks like Garry has been struck by a severe case of the Karma's ;) :augie

314031058_w6n8i-M.jpg

It won't start. Why are they looking in the headlight? Apparently it's where the loom lives . Anyway, one mechanic and one electrician soon get the bike in pieces, and back into working order. A case of chaffage, apparently.

314031313_3VUmm-M.jpg

Soon the merry band are back on their way

314031817_Favrk-M.jpg

Up into the hills, over some knarly singletrack and then time for a rest, lunch and a play for some

314010619_SRyDZ-M.jpg

314011386_tQxS5-M.jpg

313634717_xUwRf-M.jpg

313635777_quDTd-M.jpg

more in a bit...

...cont

Onward we go, Garry could and would ride all day and into the night if we didn't give him a time to be home, I reckon.

313636417_xSweG-L.jpg

Hopefully there will be some pics of us going down here

313637056_L568S-M.jpg

and up here

313637680_gd5ST-M.jpg

in my case stopping a few times, legs flailing around as usual, rabbit-style. So need to wait for those pics.

And on the top the chaps practice some rut crossing, sorry I seem to be overexposed :o

313638827_hgusH-M.jpg

And there's always time for some practice. Unfortunately Garry had put away the camera when I wheelied off the top of the crest here. Ahem...

313642327_YP4pX-M.jpg

And it was time for Gaz to try and fulfill a life-long ambition. Many men have other things in mind to do before they die. Gaz just wants to get one wheelie across the stream, and that's virtually a quote :D

313643574_giboM-M.jpg

It was something, but it wasn't a wheelie. Sorry Gaz, nill point. :thumb

313644165_JyZXt-M.jpg

I didn't even bother trying :thedummy

Now, keen eyed observer's may have noticed a lightweight rain jacket strapped in my tailpack in previous pics. After coming up a lane rather overgrown and therefore pushing through the hedge on climbing up and put I heard a load 'snap!' noise. 'Hmmm, didn't notice a branch' I thought. We stopped at the top, and I notice I had lost my jacket. 'I think I have lost my jacket' I told them. 'Actually, I haven't, I have found it'

313645465_d3YWQ-M.jpg

Luckily for me the bike picked it up and safely stowed it between the sprocket and wheel :D
The snapping noise was probably the chain guard getting sucked into the 'works'

I was very pleased the jacket hadn't been lost. Robbie started tugging on it.
That wasn't the first tugging we had seen that day but everyone was too shocked to get a picture (of Gaz).
'Careful, don't tear it' said Garry. He's so thoughtful.

313646222_kJyhZ-M.jpg

Anyway, we got it out and it was as good as new.
The rim and tyre were also polished to a high standard, as Garry put it, by the coat.
I will add this to my top motorcycling tips page, along with 'seat you bead by riding over a cattle-grid' :D

Anyway, another roadside repair successfully completed (this didn't count as a breakdown) on we went.

We got to another lane where I had stopped on the corner but got going again only for me to take EXACTLY the same line rather than the dry one and get totally bogged down :blast

Garry give some advice on line choice, and I give some advice on avoiding having to use the sidestand :D

313646933_DFr8w-M.jpg

And thats the end of my pics, as we went on via a similar route that me and Robbie had taken the day before, plus a few more interesting lanes.

Time for some pics from the other :augie

A great day out and a MOST EXCELLENT adventure! 'Oh, you found some mud, then' said my Dad when i got home :augie

:beerjug:

Cheers guys!

Looks like you all had a great weekend:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

I'd have loved to have come along but I'd comitted to lead a run elsewhere.

luckily for Rich my memory card seems to have died and so no pictures

two fabulous days trail riding, excellent company as always with plenty of amusing moments

see you again soon Rich

cheers

Robb!e

A reasonable day Rich, glad you liked it:thumb2 , we should definitely do it again after my short sabbatical.

Great photos Rich, and a great post, although the body armour and the daft idea (of Robs I hasten to add) of wearing a raincoat over the top did nothing for my delicate physique!! :thedummy

Rob managed to get a couple of photos off (and there is nothing wrong with the card in the camera, but the other two we have are fnackered), so here is our contribution to the post.

Saturdays tortoise pace (not much fun for wabbits), but challenging for tortoises.

Well, thats all folks!

He's airbourne

DSC_0933Large.jpg

DSC_0938Large.jpg

I give it a go on the beemer :augie

But Gaz had scared them all away

DSC_0966Large.jpg

So poor old Rich was pushing the Beta again :thedummy

DSC_0957Large.jpg

I think Rob is going to get the bill for this...After getting a bit carried away with the leatherman

DSC_0941Large.jpg

I think Rich had a good day...Evertime i looked at him he was smiling :thumb

Cheers Boys another GREAT days trailriding :beerjug:

Welaxing Wabbit is a classic caption :D

Am just having 2 or 3 weeks off, have overdone it a bit recently and need to reconnect with wife & dogs !

Yes, I'm out for a few weeks as well, other peoples weddings and stuff. Take me that long to service the Beta anyway :augie
