Gas central heating installers Dublin area - recommendations?

Hi all,
Long time no post . I've been kind of occupied.
Looking for advice;
We need gas central heating installed. The house is a 'blank canvas' as in we've never had central heating. So we will need EVERYTHING from boiler to pipework to radiators and I don't know what else!

I've tried myself to search for a reputable companies but cannot find clear information - just sales pitch.
I've no idea. I'm sure ye lot can point me in the right direction - youz know EVERYthing after all!
Personal experience and recommendation is what I need.

Also as Mrs Og is not at all well and housebound, this has to be (as far as realistically / reasonably possible) a clean and tidy job - she's having enough trouble breathing as it is.
We are applying for various grants and this job is hopefully one of them .
Along with a stairlift and mobility scooter . (Yeah - there's been big changes for her in the last 6 months - none of it nice)

Hi. I worked at installing gas central heating 40 years ago. It was a big deal then. Controls are the most important thing now. Try and work with seai. It must be an old house? Try and work towards getting as high a ber rating as possible. Do explore all your options as your house is a blank canvas. Would oil be better? Probably not. What about a heat pump? You hear good and bad about them. JJH
 
Sorry to hear of Linda's recent poor health Marc, thats really sad news. Best wishes that things improve.

I don't know much about the gas side of things but seeing as it is a fresh install you need, I would be tempted to consider all other options as well (such as oil fired, heat pump etc).

With the high cost of energy plus the shift towards greener fuels, gas might not necessarily be your best option ?

If its an older property you might need to install additional insulation. I see litlle point in paying to heat a house that is built like a barn, only to see your money quickly lost through the fabric of the building.
 
Have you checked out what grants may be available to you ?

We've looked. Gas still seems best option. I'd listen to arguments against but doubt I'd be swayed.

Have you some way of heating your house right now? Super ser. Open fire or something? JJH
 
Do your gas suppliers install heating systems? Our daughter's was done by Scottish gas and they were as good as anyone.

Modern electric radiators are very efficient these days. They are about three times more expensive to run than gas but they do have a number of advantages. They are clean to put in and they work like normal rads. After getting a bit of plumbing work done myself I have to say it is really dirty and intrusive. Plus the initial outlay is much lower for electric rads. Could solar be involved for a clean solution?
 
A cheap and easy simple way to keep a person warm. Get a large electric blancket for an armchair. Wrap um in it. 100w maybe power. Toasty. I am a big fan of electric blankets in bed too...
