Now that I've got a new GS on order but due to timing I've got probs getting a small block stable built before delivery what with organising a concrete base etc.

Using self storage looks the only short term answer until it's installed. However the brother in law has a safe area round the back of his house where I can put a ground anchor in and cover the bike.

Problem is the access width into this area is 750mm, is it possible to waggle the bars through this, not to mention the cylinders. Any responses would be much appreciated.

thanks.

I manage to get my 1100GS through a gate 885mm wide, although it is at a awkward angle so it does make it difficult. I wouldn't think 750mm is wide enough. HTH

I took a demo 1200GS back to my house specifically to check if I could get it through a narrow side gate. Looking at the bike, it seems impossible with the hand guards, but because it has so much steering lock I found it easy to waggle through. Just measured the gate at 870mm. I think 750mm would be pushing it, but only way would be to try - if you have plenty of space either side it might be possible?

Looks like it'll be too tight to mess about with. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

We have just knocked down our side wall and removed the old gate, new piece of fencing and nice new gate as we kept on scuffing our handguards when taking the bikes up the side of the house :( Can now get up nicely even with the panniers on :D

My side gate is 1000mm wide between two block walls that I have to attack at a slight angle. I can just get through but usually scrape a handguard while watching the engine bars.
