gear assist pro on lc

Maybe the shift or caps lock.? On keyboard I mean...

My GSWC in today for sorting, re-coded ECU, complete wiring & switch assembly removed, cleaned connectors & inspected, refitted...
I'm sure it'll be ok now, collecting tomorrow...

Thought this forum was for genuine comments and information NOT TO put negative comments on about peoples keyboard skills !!!!!

You should see what happens if you post something with a picture of your kitchen in it! :rob ;)

Good news about your QS though - enjoy! :thumb

Back to quick shifter guys...
Collected my GS WC from dealers early this morning in the p***in rain!
They re-coded ECU, took Qs off & refitted it...
So...
I took a 70 mile ride home,
Now works on downshifts nearly all the time, (possibly all the time) upshift seems a bit too much engine cut out for my liking, but still gave 1 really bad upshift from 3rd to 4th coming off a roundabout after a sustained 70mph for maybe 5minutes, better but still not 100%..
I'll try a run after the weekend..

When changing up, you are keeping the throttle open, and not releasing it slightly are you? If you roll off, even slightly, that causes the problem you describe. It takes a few miles to get used to it properly, as it's obviously natural to roll off when changing gear, and you may be doing it without realising occasionally. If you've been riding for a long time, it will take even longer to get used to it. You need to really consciously remember to do this for a good few miles, then it will shift perfectly.

It's defo improved. 1 bad shift, might have been me, I'll consciously test it hard when it's a dry day..
I think I need to try a GS with one fitted to compare..

As I said in the other thread, the one on my RT works perfectly, provided you use it properly.

As others have said, it takes some getting used to if you have never used one....

I collected my '14 TE on Friday with G/A pro having tried an RT before they pulled them all.
Mine works OK but it's not perfect on the upchanges as it has the odd change that seems to catch the device out every so often. Down changes work fine.

I'm not sure it's something that you can use all the time though,I think you have to get used to where it works best and use it then. I've found that I'm better using the clutch for a smooth upchange on part throttle.

Practice makes perfect here me thinks.

Not sure if this has been asked somewhere. I know you can't add the gear assist pro to a 2013 engine however BMW are replacing my engine and spoke with the dealership today and he says that they are going to fit a 2014 engine. If this is the case is it then possible to fit a gear assist pro?

Yes it can be done Contact: stick, he had the same issue after having a new engine and bm fitting an additional loom and shift assist.

Not yet had the shifter connected to the ecu , BMW say it's not possible , still waiting fir the dealer to get more info from Germany.
Little pissed off as it's been weeks , but still , the Germans are not happy at the moment as it's not the usual for them.. Watch this space. May have a work around soon , if not back to the translogic

Mine is great going up but seems to need a very heavy boot on down shifts
Never experienced one before so is this normal or do I need it looking at on first service

I'd say mine needs a positive boot rather than a heavy boot.

Yep, I've got exactly the same problem. Mostly first to second, occasionally second to third.

Just an update on this - bike went back to dealer today, and with the help of Technical they have diagnosed a faulty clutch switch. Being replaced in about a weeks time.

(As a courtesy bike they gave me a C600 scooter - it was rubbish! My tmax is loads better)

Quick shifters are mainly used for up shifts ie the brands such as translogic, power commander, the bm is rather flash to allow down shifts, when you shift down make sure you have rolled off the throttle completely and the engine speed matches the down shift, than its lovely jubbly and you should get a lovely pop as you snick down the box, up shifts hold it wide open and snick snick .

I do roll off completely for down shifts but it doesn't snick in easily and only occasionally blips throttle when it's doing it's stuff so will have it looked at on 1st service
Up shifts are fantastic tho
