i'm sure i've asked this question or may have mention it before...

i test road a R1100LT about 4 years ago... i did not like the gear change ,clucky is one word i would use.

i also test road the 1200 gs about 18 months ago, the gear change was just like my other bikes, nice and smooth and i was well impressed

question is the 1200 bike is just over my buget . hence taking a closer look at the 1150 ...
the gear change is it clucky just like the R1100 RT i test road or closer to the 1200 gs..
because if it like the 1100Lt then i'll be looking at the 1200 and selling my other bikes to pay for it.

cheers

"smooth" and "gear change" seldom appear in the same sentence where the 1150 is concerned.

Unless there's a "not" in there as well. ;)

I'm with Steve. It's a BM, smooth just doesn't get a look in. Boot it into gear and then check again to make sure it's in. My 1150 jumps out of 5 and 6 every now and again, but only if I try for a smooth change. The clunk means it's in and I don't have to worry. Either bike is great. Ride the torque and enjoy the ride!!!! :bounce1

The 1150 gearboxes are better than the 1100s, but not as good as the 1200s. And for added confusion there's the 1150 sport ratios with a lower top gear. You'll get used to it.

Preload the lever before pulling the clutch in, and it'll stay in 6th.

Thanks for that Steve, I'll give it a try.I don't tend to suffer from it too much, usually just when I'm being lazy. :thumb
