How common is it for this to go AWOL?
I am experiencing errors, last night it varied from 0-1 when the GS1150 was in 3-5. Then it cleared itself ..........for a while. Still at least it's a warrantee repair.

I thought I had all the bad luck with the ABS problems.

My GS1150Adv did that not long after purchase and a few wet rides.. Dealer kept "forgetting" to fix it and they had plenty of oppourtunity with the number of warentee issues it had. Luckily? they had to do a rear swingarm swap (another recall) and they swapped the switch then, so I'm assuming this is a PITA job that likely needs the swing arm dropped for access.

Good luck.

My 1150gs has has this prob for a while and Its far worse in the wet

Spoke to the dealer about it on the last service and was told the faulty switch was cheap but you had to drop the shaft drive out which would cost £300 plus so I decided to live with it but it is annoying.

FWIW, my 1200 has suffered this problem once, after being washed, so almost certainly water related. I give the sensor area a good dose of WD40 from time to time and it hasn't happened again.

Mine used to play up in exactly the same way. It used to flip between 1 and 0 for all the gears. It usually happened after it got really wet, say after giving it a good wash down and it would last for a few days. In the end I got it fixed when I had my clutch replaced so the cost was not too bad.

To be honest I would not have bothered fixing it if I had not been replacing the clutch, you should know what gear you are in without it, I hope.

Does not need swing arm removal - do search here... I have posted numerous times on this problem and the fixes.

Can't find the Posts you mention Dom any chance of a link ?

The switch was replaced by SPC, took about an hour. I was told that the new switch is packed with silicone grease, so should not happen again.

Nice one.

Someone should tell SLM it only takes an hour, or perhaps it's only an hour when it's under warantee and three when the punter is paying!!
