Gear lever extension

Having a job somtimes to "find the gear lever" as it seems abit short with size twelve boots!. Seen the one in NIppy's for £19.00 plus £5.00 post seems ridiculous just pushes on over the rubber, Anyone tried one? or how does the foot peice attatch to the lever?, thinking of a home made option.
Any advice appreciated.

(yes, already got an 1150 never a prob, on the 1200 thought a couple of times the lever had fallen off!).

yep it just pushes on,its a very tight fit(might have o rings in it) i've got one on the 1150 cause i cant twist me knee,mines been on for years(it came off a 1200 so must be the same size)

Thanks for that, I was worried i'd mloose my £24 on the road somewhere! so pehaps I'll take the plunge! all the bits of tube I got lying around here nothing fits!.
