Begining to wonder why I brought a 1200!! went to adjust the gear lever! well,
what does one undo this bolt with?. (apart from great difficulty!). It has a male torque head which appears to be tapered and what fits this abortion?, tried socket and a ring spanner no grip on bolt at all. What happend to good old allen bolts ro hexigan bolt heads?. if and when it comes out it aint going back that's for sure!. any advice welcomed.
Dave GS (usual small steelsons won't go in).

Or just get a set of torx sockets. Everything is built with them now so I a sure you will find a use for them other than the bike.

Socket and see

Thanks chaps never hear of tourqe sockets got plenty of bits but no sockets till tommorow!! Halfrauds here we come!. good old 1150's allen screws live !!!!.
many thanks all round.

Heres a tip...

Get the Halfords 36 piece set which is a cracking piece of gear for £20.

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._-Product_Details_Zone_1-_-Blank&iozone=PDPz1

It has all sorts of bits incl Alan and torx.
Then, to make it GS friendly, get a set of torx sockets and swop em with the hex sockets in the set. You'll also need a 1/4" to 1/2" adapter.
Gives you a neat little kit for the road that'll tackle most jobs.
Reckon Touratwat would do similar for about two hundred notes.

I'm sure a metric ring spanner will do the job, can't remember which size though. Same goes for the handlebar clamp bolts.

Thats what I thought but it don't! hence the appeal prior to selling the thing!!, how ever, have been to see
Mr Halfrauds and got the £16.00 version. I dident see the others but have got sockets etc comming out of my ears only thing I dident have was these things.
So many thanks for all the pointers job now done still don't see the point of these, better for machine tools / mass production I guess.
many thanks,

Hmm , maybe it was an imperial spanner for the gear lever then.
I have replaced a lot of the bolts and screws with normal capheads (internal hex). Otherwise I need separate toolkits for the GS and my other bike which is a right pain.
