I have a GS Rallye 2017 with just over 500 miles on the clock. Been out this morning for a ride round and on the way back set off from a junction and couldnt get out of second gear (not using quickshifter). Had to slow right down, put into neutral and try again which worked okay. Then same thing happened a further 10 miles down the road. Anyone any ideas or encountered this before? Does the gear selector need adjusting as its going for first service on Monday anyway.

You've broken it in 500 miles

Adjustment of gear linkage, first thought bleed clutch.

Call BMW assist if it’s not okay to ride and get it taken to the dealer!

Does it work okay in the other gears and does the clutch feel okay?

Yes, it worked okay after each incident, clutch feels okay, I have altered the clutch lever reach to see if that makes any difference.

On my 2015 GSA, If I tried to change into 3rd from 2nd, with or without clutch, it wouldn't go at times, especially at highish revs. I had slow down, and eventually it would change.

After the service, it never happened again!

On mine there is a sweet spot around 3.5 - 4K then when I do change gear it just slips right in no clunk at all manually or with assist.

Took the bike in this morning to Alan Jefferies. Told them about the problem with the gear selection. They had a look and said they had reset the "Adaptation Values" for the gear sensor. Rode the bike home the long way round using the clutch and quickshifter both up and down the box. So far everything seems okay.:thumb2
