I've had it on good authority from my dealer today that the 2014 gear shift assist WONT fit the 13 GS. Does this mean that all of us who bought the first WC now have inferior software and gearbox? I think BMW have been a bit naughty about this. I personally only get issues when the box is hot and can't always find neutral straight away. I have been pleased with the bike otherwise, but am interested in what anybody else thinks. I do plan to email BMW GB and express my feelings, whatever good it does........

What right do you think you have that accessories are backwards compatible with previous model year bikes?

I am sure that Heinrich and his colleagues in Customer Services will be rolling aorund on the floor with laughter at your letter.

:-)

Just retro fit one from translogic or px for a 2014 model simples! !

You have been mislead, ripped off, raped, abused and taken for a mug.

Why have BMW been naughty? Accessories are being developed for bikes all the time.

If you're really not happy, and this isn't a wind up, sell the bike (or reject it if the gearbox really is that rubbish) and get a 2014 version.:rob:thumb

No need to contact BMW HQ, i will tell you why the factory 2014 quickshifter will not fit the 2013 model.

Because the loom and ecu are different to accept the quickshifter loom and allow programming software for the shifter.

Hopefully saved you the cost of a stamp :)

Thanks for the first sensible reply. I actually love the bike, and having had K1300 r and s with the quick shifter, I was hoping that the gear shift assist would fit my bike. I was only going to mail bmw to find out why it won't.

Can you go down to? On web site only mention up shifts.

I guess he means the bike has the awesome slipper clutch... Which works without the shifter anyway.

No, only up shifts on the translogic. I dont know of any aftermarket QS's that do up & down.....so thats the only advantage BMW's new system.

has anyone got the gearshift assist on there bike yet and does it work thinking of going down the hm route had one on my RC8R and it was brilliant

I can't really see the need for one unless
1) you are racing
or
2) your feet don't work

Does the translogic quickshifter invalidate the warranty ding?

I still don't get why you need Gear Shift Assist.

What is so hard about using clutch and easing the throttle during a gear change?

What am I missing?

Only if it could be proved beyond all reasonable doubt that the fitting of the third party shifter was the sole cause of the breakage or problem that brought about the warranty claim.

The chances of this happening slim and are significantly reduced further if the shifter is supplied and / or fitted by a franchised dealership and that the bike is otherwise standard and (of course) serviced in compliance with the manufacturer's programme.

Anyway, what ya worrying about.... Quick shifters on tractors are fitted by the pirates of the roads, devil may care, spit in the eye of BMW, service it myself or get a mate to do it (don't pay stealers to rip me off, mate) who don't care for warranties and other corporate bollocks spouted by the suits.

You'll take it off before marching the bike into the dealership, to thump the table and demand that the workshop drops everything then and there to fix your premium priced, around the world, unstoppable awesome steed... Or you'll rip their eyes out.... Won't you.

I have been using the twinkle toed method so long, it would take my mouse brain too long to adjust.
I can't let ABS do it's own thing in the car, without my anti crash brain wanting to let the brake off

I had a factory fitted quickshifter on my hp and they are really good. Takes a little to re-calibrate the brain when shifting upwards but not shutting the throttle or touching the clutch. Im really interested,. To those who have qs fitted, exactly how much, can we get a discount and what work involved to fit, wiring to loom ,where from.etc?
