After 1100 km I have started, or rather GSAP is allowing me, to shift up from 1st to 2nd (and up), and shift down from 6th all the way down to 1st - with mixed results as one can imagine. For example, at the moment shifting from 2nd to 3rd is not always possible and I find that cutting down the throttle and revving up again helps.

Sometimes when shifting up from 1st to 2nd the transition is surprisingly smooth so it is an incentive to continue doing so obviously bearing in mind throttle position, revs and bike speed.

Shifting all the way down is a very pleasing experience in its own right particularly hearing the engine note after each down shift, the loudest of which is the last gear. Brilliant :thumb

Is this the same for all those who have GSAP on their GS/A LC?

I have 24000 kms on my GSAP equipped GS.

upshifts are great.

downshifts (esp when really going hard in the corners) , I prefer old school of getting into the correct gear well before the corner to access the engine braking entering the corner and the power to exit the corner. There , I tend to use the clutch.

Yep, I'd agree with all that. Re the occasional dodgy 2nd to 3rd gear change, mine does it (probably once every few dozen changes), and I wasn't sure if it's the bike or me. After a trip to Vines on Saturday, my technician mate rode it, and also got it to do the same, and said that BMW are working on a software update to correct it.

2nd to 1st when decelerating quickly is addictive with GSAP!:green gri

Well at least yours is in working order!

At my 600 service requested dealer adjust position of gearshift as a tad too far from my right boot. This was duly done and I set course for Belguim and France. Only to find that the pro shift had stopped working.

Having returned to Blighty paid my dealer a visit as pannier barrel lock had come out of n/s pannier lid lock on my drive just as I mounted up to leave the UK (another story..........) - and enquired as to why pro shift stopped working? I was told that the software should have been updated when they adjusted the lever position?

So it has to go back again for a 3rd time.........

Regards

Pleased with my GSAP. Especially downshifts, though 2nd to 1st only really works at v. low speed, and one seldom needs 1st except when moving away from stationary. Upward shifts need the throttle held open/partially open, which is a little counter intuitive.

Before some one spots it, I do change gear with my left boot really:augie

I like the Gearshift pro. but I don't get the blip when changing down, am I doing something wrong ? I also have to open the throttle a bit to change down, or it won't change. The bike was bought new from the dealer in Spain, if that might make a difference i.e. set up for Spain. The bike is a 2015 gs.

Funny this
I have had mine in for its 6K service today and i took a loaner gs with GSAP and noticed that it "blipped" the throttle on downshifts much better than mine does so i mentioned it to the tech and he did a software thingy.
Apparently for the first 10 miles or so after fitting or software thing the GSAP does not work as it has to "learn" which it did and now works better than it did.

They also did a software force on the heated grips and they too seem to work better than they did.

Piddocks were excellent and reasonable price IMO also swapped the number plate FOC to get rid of the Rainbow badging !

I would say yours isn't working correctly, mine was retro fitted but took 3 attempts to get the software sorted.
I'll not be asking dealer to update software in a hurry..
A return to the dealer is on the cards..

I wonder how many gearboxes are going to be damaged from poorly adjusted quick shifters? ;)
