Howdo folks gonna give the r1100gs a wee service ..Ive drained the gearbox and final drive oil out earlier and it looked quite clean ...no swarf or metal on the drain plug magnets either :thumb2 what oil will I put in the gearbox/fd ? can I use the same in either or has it got to be different grades .. ? cheers :)

My choice is Castrol Axle epx 80w90.
But there are many others including Castrol fully synthetic etc. You can use the same oil in both the gearbox and final drive :-)

Hi mate , just serviced my 1150, I used Millers 75/90 semi , from James Sherlock ( bought the whole service kit from them). Had a wee bit of swarf on the final drive magnet , eek hope it's nothing too major.

Done the gearbox n FD oils today man that stuff stinks :barf.. jus got 2 bottles from halfrauds .. engine oil + filter next then the alt belt .. :thumb2 ... Where can I get the angled flap that folk fit below the number plate to deflect rear wheel spray ? Cheers :)

Touratech used to sell them, but probably not anymore. You could try making your own, as it's just a piece of aluminium sheet with a bent lip at the end. Or trawl eBay.

But I would save your money, because it doesn't do what you hope it will do. In my "bling" days I had one fitted to my bike. It was useless and the bike was just as dirty with or without it fitted. Sold it on years ago to another "bling" enthusiast.

:D

I could be wrong, but check out Rugged Roads. They might do them or something close.
