Gearbox and (possibly) final drive gone...

If you can't get a box i have a full set of internal g/box parts taken out of a damaged gearbox case, due to a crash

Thanks for the pointers and feedback. I plan to bring the bike home at the end of next week so I'll start the search for parts sometime after that. I'm in no real hurry given the time of year.

Cheers

Kai

Its not so bad, quite a few of us have blown up gearboxes.
Its an easy job taking out the box if you are organised and have a place to work. The most important advise is to take loads of photos as you take it apart.
You will also need to construct a fixture to cradle the engine, the bike is dead weight when the rear end is dropped off.
Last time i took out a gearbox it took me less than an hour.
Dont hesitate to PM me if you need advise.

Flippin 'eck, mate, that's not good news, and my new GS is only 42k behind yours. Perhaps I should have gone and bought a new Viffer.........!

Hope all's fixed soon and (relatively) cheaply.

I think being organised is the key, which doesn't come naturally to me.

The only thing I would add to this is that for larger jobs I like to put the bolts into plastic bags as I remove them and label where they came from.
