Hi

I hope someone could help, any ideas where i could get hold of a list of the bearing references for the Ball race bearings in my 1150GS gearbox?

BMW Dealer????

Hi,
I've just replaced some of the bearings in my 1150 gearbox and I bought them from the local BMW dealer - BMW dealer prices for bearings (and seals) are very reasonable:thumb2 and personally I don't think it's worth the bother or risk picking them up elsewhere?. The bearings in the gearbox are specific grades as regards clearances/tolerances and although a "standard" number will apply it will not be the correct "grade" - I could have just picked up the bearings at work:augie - but because of the tolerances and the need for overall assembled shaft lengths to match BMW tolerances I stuck with originals from BMW

Cheers.......................Grizzly:beer:

Thanks for the replies guys.
guess I will just have to wait until I have split the box for the numbers.

Cheers anyway

But don't be afraid of the bearings!! the bearings have standard external dimensions so the shaft lengths and positions should not be a problem, the only real question is "what are the internal clearances of the bearings" they will be either std or C3, C3 being a greater than std internal clearances normaly found in areas where large temperature variations are experienced.
If I was a betting man I would expect the bearings in this gearbox to be C3.

Has anyone got this info?

Thanks for confirming that Steptoe Ihad a feeling you would be the man with the answer.

Cheers have a great Christmas

Buy them from Motorworks/Motobins or james Sherlock and you'll get BMW 'originals'.

Its what they sell... They are after all 'BMW' Dealers.. of everything apart from Brand new Bikes. They order parts from exactly the same sources as the 'Dealerships'

Yes.. they 'may' also offer 'pattern' - but you can be assured they will be an identical spec - only without the BMW premium.
