Gearbox/Clutch worry!

My 02 GS is just coming up to 24000 miles and has developed a problem. When cold everything seams okay, however once up to normal running temperature then it does not want to change down gear. The selector moves down but nothing happens.

I spoke to a bloke who reckons the clutch is on the way out. Anyone else experienced this?

Don't know if this will help... but have a look at this thread ... it could just be the gearlever linkages.

Agree with MD sounds like the gear linkage, I just cleaned and replaced part of mine after an offroad spill. Would not change down but all ok now without changing the clutch. At 24k you would be very unlucky if the clutch plate is on it's way out.

Agree with above , check the linkage first -
also make sure you can see fluid in the clutch reservoir sight glass, you don't want it full - as it fills up as the clutch wears, it doesn't go lower as most people think -
