This has probably been discussed already but I could not find the specific answer I was looking for.

I have done my 6k service in July and the dealer told me (after the service not before :blast ) that I need to go back and change the gearbox oil when the bike is 12 months old.

Now, in July the bike was 10 months old so what's the point of going back after only 2 months only 2k miles later? Had they told me earlier of course I would have asked for a gearbox oil change as well.

What shall I do? :nenau Would this invalidate warranty if I don't do it?

It sounds like your dealer is a wanker for not giving you the option to change it when they had the bike on the ramp :blast

I just change mine every other service :D

Dealer should have told you but its also in the schedule for the annual service, you obviously just got the 6000 mile service. I guess he wasnt very friendly in informing you of that snippet of information but there are two schedules, a mileage one which is every 6000 and an annual one. You can combine them when they are close enough. Yes it will invalidate your gearbox warranty if you don't get it changed. I believe your brake fluid should be changed at the first year as well but that maybe varies on whether you have ABS or not.

Many thanks, the 6k service was done overseas (Italy) while working there over the summer. I agree the dealer should have least told me beforehand :rob

Anyway, I'll probably book in a small service for gearbox oil plus maybe final drive oil at Vines or Bahnstormer (not sure about Park Lane even though I live next door to them...).

Brake fluid was actually changed at 6k :nenau

Vines quoted me £45.90 for both gearbox oil and final drive oil change, not bad after all...

Final drive oil is done at 600ml service then every 12k or 2 years so it doesn't need doing yet. 1st year is gearbox and brake fluid only then every 24k or 2 years

Sorry didn't see that bit. So you've had a 6k and half an annual ? can't the dealer who did the job read a service schedule then ?

Yes they did 6k plus half an annual (brake fluid but not gearbox oil...) not sure why! Now I've got a copy of the service schedule so I can double check myself. Final drive oil change is every 2yrs or 12k as you said but I may get it done as it's quite cheap anyway.
