Gearbox Oil Confusion!!!!

I've just changed the Gearbox Oil in the 03 1150GS and I'm now left bewildered over the amount it's taken.
Bible says 0.8lts and until the new Oil just seeps out of the Filler Plug Hole.
In reality, I've put in 1lt and I can just see the new Oil through the Filler Plug Hole.
When I removed the Filler Plug initially there was Oil coming out immediately so it must have had in well over a full Litre before.
Bike is on Centre Stand and on a level Floor so what's occurrin Folks??!!

just fill it up till it slowly drips out don't overfill it it will settle should be bottom of the filler plug hole you be ok and the motorcycle on a level surface

Looking at the Manual again, it states 1lt after a Rebuild.
Perhaps, having just returned from a 120 mile Run, the Box was hot enough to let go of all its Contents, hence the need for at least a litre....

When i change mine i do the same as you, on centre stand, level ground

I put in 800ml and it doesn't sit on the thread

If it says 800ml ......you know the rest

Just top up to the lower part of the hole it may be 820ml or a litre but the the lower edge of the hole is the level!

N.B. Make sure it is GL5 Spec Whatever viscosity that you choose!

If you had been on a long run, the heat will have expanded the shaft housing, hence the extra capacity......

Have you still got your old oil? I will put it in mine.

I got 20 litres Gear Oil, Motor Oil and Primary Oil from Harleys and Bm's....any particular Flavour u fancy?
