Hi -

I am sure I have seen a step-by-step Steptoe guide for R1100/1150 gearbox removal, but cannot find it (yes I have searched)!

Please could someone point me towards it?

I know there are guides all over the web, but as far as I remember, Neil's guide includes quite a bit of advice about tasks that are usually seen as part of the process, but which are in fact unnecessary.

Cheers,

Paul

It varies. What do you want to do ? Removing the gearbox to work on the clutch, or removing the gearbox to work on the gearbox ? There are two different methods :D

Steptoes' guide , ride bike to S , leave on loan bike , come back ,pay money ,ride home. :D
.

sorry , i'm not helping much.

Oi, do want this as new 1150 toolkit and toolbox - collect it and it’s yours for £30 .

Thanks Neil. It's a case of removing the gearbox for repair or more likely exchange. Early R1100RS. Clutch feels healthy.

In which case you won’t be pulling the transmission and drive train unit out as one piece. You’ll be taking off final drive, swing arm and then removing gearbox. It takes longer but is easier for one person to manage if you’ve never done it before .

Thanks for that. At least being a job at the back of the bike rather than the front, I won't be removing acres of plastic. :D
