Does anyone else find this? 3rd and 5th tend to be the worst... like you're riding over small stones when the road surface is perfect. tends to be around the 3000 rpm range? you feel it through the pegs more than anything.

Anyone had a box go bang? it could feel very much like a bearing...

If you do a search there was a thread on an oscillation type vibe at certain revs in certain gears, usually on a neutral throttle. I myself experience that. Could that be what your feeling ?

It seems common to a lot of boxer engines both wet head and before.

May be.. as you say, neutral or light load...
and only around the 3K mark...
3rd just feels rough.. like I say, you are riding over stones that don't exist... (had this a lot on my TU)
4th cycles.. I guess its fueling
5th, Is where I get a slight knock, 4 or 5 times a second... and its this I'd describe as a bearing going although at 17K I'm sure it's not....

Problem is, once you've zoned in on these things... your always looking for it, or even trying to make it do it LOL ...

Why not try to find a mate who has a similar bike to yours, and give it a spin, if the same, away go the gremlins.

It could be coincidence but for me it became apparent 5 hundred miles after a tyre change. I did wonder if maybe the balance went out as the tyre wore.

When they need replacing I’m hoping it might go away or reduce.

What is yours like exactly?

I don't have a mate with a GS... they said I would regret buying one as they always break down :)

TBH... I think it could be on the input side as it appears more engine RPM related ... 5th gear input bearing?... who knows... I did try a 2018 one and could just feel something...?

Must be someone on here close to Bradford that could try yours and vice versa

Mines a late 14 ( sept ) and has had 21k trouble free miles. ( touches wood) Where I live in Devon the roads are twisty so I rarely run into the vibe issue as there isn’t so much cruising.

When I tour it’s more apparent and seems to be most noticeable say at 50 ish cruising In 4th in traffic etc

Thats where I've picked mine up.. On the Sunday trash, I've not really noticed it... But when touring Ireland where there is a lot of low speed stuff when behind cars, it's started to bug me a bit. Funny thing is, fully loaded two up, it didn't do it.. get the bags off one up, but still set on the shocks for 2 up plus load, I noticed it a lot...
Re-set the shocks.. and it went away 90%?...

Harmonics. Try a different set of tyres. I've found that PST2s reduce this effect, whilst PR5s exacerbate it. I've noticed this to varying degrees on Twin Cams and LC bikes

Harmonics, never actually thought of that for little vibes in the footpegs, nice tip sir............:thumb2

Could be.. but why just 5th for the small knock? I'm on Road Pilot's BTW

I think the little knock is something different and every gs I have ridden ( service loaners and my brothers) had it. The service guys at the dealer say it’s the shaft drive and normal.

Interesting?. so you have it also.. just in 5th or other gears?

To be honest I’m not sure, I never really took note of the gears with the knock. I thought it was the centre stand initially but it’s not. I feel it through the pegs only so I don’t think it’s engine related.

But is it a knock every so often.. or like mine 4 or 5 times a second until you change something?

I did read the damper bit last night.. and that might help the issue on 2017 on bikes.. but just curious if others feel it?
