Went out today, first time for weeks. Five miles down road I find that although I can change up the box I can't change down! I found myself stuck in fourth. However if I switch off and rock the bike back and forth while pressing on the gear lever I can get it to change down. It then behaves for about half a mile and then I get stuck and can't change down. I also noticed a hot smell but I put this down to all the crud on the hot exhaust.

OK guys ant ideas??

ps my fuel gauge isn't working properly but I think that's down to Rydales changing my fuel filter at the 24,000 service.

Try taking the ball head pivots shown in the following diagram and grease them up. It may be that the lever is getting stuck in a partially down position.

Thanks mate I'll try that, unfortunately it's now chucking it down and the bike's covered in salt.
