gel seat pads?

Hi all,
Please can anyome tell me if they have used a gel seat pad on 1150 gs,
Off on a 4 day trip next week and think this might be a good move.

I used a gel seat pad that is meant for under a horse saddle when we traveled 6000 odd miles around Europe, was OK but not as comfy as sitting in my car

If you are going down the route of airhawk. Try and borrow one for a test ride. When I had a stock seat I used an cruiser Small.

Now I have a profiled seat with a concave seat area. I find the airhawk cruiser medium to be a better fit.

Either way for extended rides, I would not go without an airhawk.

Sheep skin seat cover thing... got it to try out 2nd hand off here before I went to Alps last autumn. Brilliant - hasn't been off the bike since. Tried them Airhawk cushions few years ago and didn't like them at all.

How far are you going?

Only think to remember about the Airhawk is they raise your head height and make you look like you've got piles.

I've got a sheepskin and it made a bit of a difference - especially in hot weather cos it stops your bum sweating so much. Corbin cost more than the value of my old GSA and with that stupid backrest, it looks like a stannah stair lift.

Unless you're really going to do a lot of miles though, you'll be fine without anything. I do wear cycling shorts for the first couple of days though, padding in one reason but having no seams to sit on and irritate you is more important. Boxers not tighty whiteys for sure. I once had to give a tighty whitey fellow rider a pair of boxers cos he was in so much 'seam pain'. The look on his face as he came out the toilet and sat on his bike with the boxers on was as if Kelly Brook had just walked up naked and then bent down to pick up a pebble

I have a modified seat for my GSA fitted with gel pads, cheap and feels good. You can also have any foam re-sculpturing done to cater to you requirements.

I had an Airhawk and it seemed to work better on some bikes than others, but I couldnt get used to moving around under you feeling you get.
I use cycling shorts now and i have found that the more you pay the more comfatable they are.

Mine has had a gel pad insert its very comfortable only compliant is they get cold in winter months.

I've been evaluating one of these for my forthcoming Scoots trip to the Gambia on my C90.

So far I can report it does all it says on the tin.

Worth a punt at the money.
