General Advice Please . Roads .

Hi Guys , Looking for advice about the roads to Limestone Lodge ,we are heading there over Christmas week , Leaving wednesday ,but as this weather is lasting i just want to check the local conditions around Cavan , place is about 6 mile outside town . Many Thanks .

Just a idea what roads are like once we leave the main roads , are we talking ice rinks or deep snow , Coming down through Clones if that is spelt right . any idea on how roads are like is all i looking for . Geno

I know (though, thankfully, not well) a Cavan born accountant who reinforces both stereotypes.

I've a friend with Monaghan blood (nearly the same). An ex-girlfriend exclaimed once that he was the first person she'd ever seen taking the batteries out of his alarm clock in the morning.

Cavan

Drove up to Virginia yesterday and back again from Dublin, Motor way is O K , but side roads from Kells onwards at all packed snow - (or teflon coated) Usable in any good tank, was minus\ - 7 deg all day .
When I got back to the city it was hell - hit the M 50 around 5 PM didnt get to Dun Laoghaire till near 11. Just solid traffic not moving , any incline was im passible, No griting or such to be seen , Six inched of snow in south city , and has been snowing all day here . Dont want to hear "I dreaming of a White Christmas " ever again.

Armagh to Monaghan isn't too bad Geno, but heading on to Clones isn't very good as you are driving on hard packed ice. Having said that it is passable with care as I had trucks on it yesterday.

Just take your time and you'll be grand. Enjoy yerselves.

Last night on my two & a half hour 5km 'trip' with about an hour spent on this short stretch :
