I am looking to do a service on my 1200 Adventure over the winter so I'm starting to source the parts.

I would like to use the genuine BMW filters but the nearest BMW dealer is over an 80 mile round trip away & not the most fun roads – I am wondering if I would be better just getting the parts mail order?

Are there any BMW Motorrad dealers that you’d recommend for good service / price for genuine parts by post ?

Cheers!

How about genuine parts from a main dealer with a discount and very quick shipping........? [email protected] Send them your enquiry and they'll email you back with an all inclusive price. I have used them for a few years now - they are keen to help!

Liking the sound of that - Definitely sounds worth a punt......:thumb2

I just put an order into them for BMW extra power socket, Canbus connector, GPS mounting bracket and a GPS frame mounting bar. 120.00 all in shipped.

Out of interest, how does that compare to what a dealer quoted you?

They are a main dealer - the range of discount you get varies. Having bought from them for quite some time I am confident that they are keen prices - and, in my experience the service if fantastic. If I email them a price request I get a response within an hour or two. I then just call up and place my order. I get car parts within 24 hours, bike parts might take 48 hours.

If you're in Glescae, then your nearest BMW Motorrad dealership is Douglas Park Motorrad in East Kilbride. http://www.douglasparkmotorrad.co.uk

The parts guy there is Scott. He's a really genuine, helpful guy.

Your comment got me thinking so I just sent the same enquiry to 'another' main dealer and they came back 18% more than what I just paid.

Have you tried Motorworks as well?

There aren't many things that they can't do a LOT cheaper than BMW.......FD bearings spring to mind, maybe one or two other parts, and they may not be able to help on GPS mounts (although they are a Rugged Road supplier so it's possible)

They also do Mahle filters, identical to the BMW ones but BMW buy them from Mahle in bulk and re-logo them.
(oil filters and fuel filters anyway)

Yes I know the place - Being a short arse that is where I went a few months ago to try the height of the GSA's before I went to Motorrad Central's open day up at Inverarary to test the GS1200, GS1200 Adventure, new GS850 and GS650 before buying my own 1200 Adventure. In a way I do like supporting your local dealer but if I am going to spend at least 2 hours on the road I would so much rather get out in the A roads than driving right across the city & traffic laden motorways and back to get parts....

I also think I may have been up you 'neck of the woods' while I was up at Leven & St Andrews on the bike last Saturday.

I found the same this afternoon as I e-mailed them with details on the bike, parts I wanted and they replied within an hour confirming the availiblity & prices which do seem pretty competitive and an online number to quote for the discount when I call. Just going to check another couple of things tonight in case I want some other things while I am at it & order tomorrow.

Why would anyone in their right mind go to Leven....? Oh hang on, that's where Ronno lives, isn't it.....:D
