Germany and Italy - A tale of 2 halves

Nice write up JB.Makes me want to plan a return to the Alps next june.Scottish highlands ( done this year) are good, but the Alps is far better.:beerjug:

Nice report JB, if I ever get another road bike I'd like to tour this area.
Quite fancy it on something like Steptoes old Harley.

Love the bit about the Polish guy wanting you to guide him: Clearly your reputation as a human sat nav has crossed into mainland Europe.
Good report though, and I must admit you've tempted me to spend a bit of time in the Dolomites.

Nice write up and pic Johnny. I'm heading off on a similar route first week of Sept abut heading further East into Slovenia. That Hotel looked nice but a but pricey at 80 Euro a night (even at half board). I've stayed in San Leonardo a few times at the bottom off the Timmelsjoch Pass and the hotels there are very cheap and quite superb.

Cant wait:thumb2

Thanks for part two of your trip. Pictures and report remind me of our trip to the Dolomites last year . Returning in August to do a few other pass roads. We stay at the Olympia Arabba No complaints, however food at your hotel looks as though it may have the edge:drool

Enjoyed that:clap:thumb

I thought that initially, but for the quality of the 6 course evening meal, you'd pay at least 30Euro, in a restaurant, so the B&B was then 50Euro which was comparable with the other places.

However this places is in a different league, when you take the gym/pool/sauna into account, click the hotel link Andy and you'll be impressed

I thought if I took an old GSA, I could afford it............ as it's cheaper than the depreciation on a new GSA:augie

Weird concepts, these Germans love

I saw that coming towards me over the Flüela Pass as I was headed towards Davos. A real double-take moment. And then it was gone, leaving me not at all sure what I had seen. Thanks for that pic.

Sorry Johnny but with the excitment I forgot to tell you thanks for the report. Very nice.
Unfortunately my German is rubbish ;-) which does not please my partner but has the advantage of not having to deal with my inlaws :-)
All the best,
O

Thanks for write-up, Dolomites is on my hit list as next tour destination :thumb

Even planning on new bike to go there on, may be the last bike I ever buy so gotta be a keeper, and the Dolomites seems the perfect Christening trip.

Most excellant report JB. Given me some more ideas for next year's trip. I have family in Erbe, so that has spurred me on.
This year's trip is already planned (Gorges de Tarn and Milleu) but 2012 is planned to be Austria and the surounds, plus Garmish now methinks).
Really enjoyed the pics

Thank you for sharing :D :thumb2
