Well after a 5 hour delay the ferry docked at lunchtime today & we were away by 12.45
Straight run to Eupen but suffered a breakdown & malfunction
This caused much consternation in Belgium & Germany as riding with such a failure is Verboten
Headlight bulb blew
Sourced another from a garage near Monschau & all is well now
Stopped at the 'Ring for a celebratory Bratwurst - I made it & arrived at hotel @ 5.30
Glad I did as the others have suffered Chunnel delays for 5 hours & won't be here til 8.30pm
The offender - 30 seconds to change on the 1150 GSA
Pretty village is Barweiler & seems a miracle happened here on 17c
So Sept is the month of Pilgrims to the next door Church, which is rammed tonight

Well after much delayed travel plans (ferry & Chunnel ) we all made the hotel, along with a special guest for the week, a very nice surprise & another comrade on a 1150 GSA tractor
Sunday dawned with low cloud & drizzle which soon cleared up after breakfast
Sunday being porn day, we thought it would be only fitting to wander down to the 'Ring to see what we could find
My fav
There were literally millions of £ worth of automobiles & a great place to see some real nice cars on full chat
After a coffee & track watch at Adenau, we I thought the weather might perk up nearer the Mosel, so I led a ride over the tops & down some nadgery back lanes, just following my nose, so to speak, off a few map references (best way to tour off a map, with no plan - just wending your way) to Treis Garden & stopped by the river @ Pommern at the excellent Imbiss for a decent Bratwurst
After lunch we crossed the river & went over some cracking roads towards Beilstein - the Germans know how to build constant radius bends, which are a delight to ride
Loads of vineyards here too
We then crossed the Mosel @ Senhein towards Elder (where the Weinfest was in full swing) & took a narrow road up through the old village's cobbled streets & archways to the single track road high above the village to see the river in all it's splendour
We carried on to the top, despite the no through road signs & sure enough there was just enough room to squeeze a GS on the grass, beside a newly installed barrier
After that we scooted back in afternoon sunshine for a well deserved 5 o'clock beer on terrace

The Germans know how to put a festival on: even in small villages. You've whetted my appetite for going over on my bike again with that photo of the bikes high up in the vineyards
I wasn't there of course .... but I too don't think so. In fact it's not!

Full tonight with some who have walked 90 km here over 2 days & are well pissed now in the bar & singing a plenty - some of the German ladies are mighty fine
