Went wandering off road today, been meaning to revisit this place for a while , but it's very hard if it's been wet. So no rain today, i thought i'd chance it. Not as large an area as the tank training grounds, but still lots to see and do. I did about 12 miles today, sticking to the dry areas.

I didn't put my knobblies on, so i wouldn't be tempted to stray off track with tourances on.

Only saw one other bike in a couple of hours, some of the good tracks were too wet today, plus being on my own i didn't want to tempt fate. And all within very reasonable driving distance from me .

Bit slippy underfoot

Fun going uphill

Nice on the drier tracks .

Ventured off onto some firmer ground

Some serious logging going on ?

Got stuck a bit further on from here .

I thought better of it and turned around and came back - lot of fun trying to turn around   if it hadn't rained all week, it would have been ok on tourances. But not today

This is a nice track that goes on for a couple miles, but again, not by myself with the ground being so soft. See what the weathers like over the next couple weeks and come back . If i'd have put my wheels on with the TKC's i'd have attempted it, glad i put the tourances on :D

Strike a pose

Very dry on some sections

Found a ford for Fanum :thumb

Exit is OK.

But the entry is a bit steep

Main tracks were firm, but very soft at the edges

Spent hour and a half, covered 14 miles.

And came out here

Found a quaint country tea shop, and the old biddy knocked me up some Ham Egg and chips and a cup of tea :thumb

She didn't look like an "Elaine" to me, and where were all the staff :nenau

And to finish off the day very nicely - A slab of fudge cake and cream . A good bank holiday sunday :thumb

And it was going so well until the last picture!

You northerners have some strange ideas. If it pours, it's not cream, it's milk. It's only cream if you can turn the spoon upside-down and the cream stays on the spoon. ;)

Thats the worse insult i've had said to me . :D

I was offered double cream or clotted cream. But i was thinking of my arteries ( after the chips and fudge cake) :rob .

Looks good :thumb

I was putting on some running-in miles today - damn GPS was playing up - somehow lead me to Tidworth via bits of the Ox Drove ;)
Had to stay on the gravel tracks though - the chalk was a bit slippy.
