I'm getting quite a few bikes coming in with broken wires in the wiring looms, around the top yolk/frame headstock area. Due to the looms being secured tightly in one place, so every time the bars are moved it's causing the the wires to flex in the same spot everytime, which leads to fatigue and breakage.
You get a piece of wire, and flex it in the same small area continuously, and it will soon break .
Now look at how tight the looms are secured around the headstock on your bike, now move the bars back and forth. See what i mean .

At least 2 bikes a month are coming in with these wires giving trouble.

Steppie. Are you expecting us to get our cutters out and cut our wiring loom just to give you business. Yer not on. I will wait for it to break itself.
We're gullable, but not that gullable.
The nerve of some people !

Steptoe,
So what model would this be then

I noticed the wiring was dead tight to the steering head when I fitted one o` them loud hooters. I had to cut a couple of ties to get some play in the wiring and join it all up. This was on a 1150 by the way Mr. Eli Minator... :thumb

Just been out & cut a couple of tie wraps off my 1150. On the R/side one of the cable bundles only has two wires in the plastic tubing, this plastic tubing was split at the point of contact of the tie wrap. Not where I cut, I hasten to add.

so Mr Toe says cut em, Mr Vern is flogging us more... wheres the thread about refitting the buggers?

Reckon they're in it together :D

for what its worth mine have been flapping in the breeze since Mr Toe last serviced my bike.

The cables that is. Eh, Niel ;)

I meant, cut the cable ties around the headstock and front frame that secure the wiring from the controls and ignition .

thanks , done mine 5 mins ago, all those wires are zipped up tight, only a matter of time, or miles.

Is this just a case of cutting every cable tie and letting everything hang loose, or are the cables re tied but not so tightly? any chance of a piccy or two.
