Getting daft about it......or not????

Thank you for your kind words and yes you are right - sometimes it is very hard to keep everyone happy. 2 jobs, a family and a drink problem does sometimes mean that I do fail - but very rarely and mostly people seem absolutely overjoyed with my performance.

yes, your thoughts are more than welcome and i think some sort of radio carrying thingy might be good!

Ha - yes I looked at the link, very practical and, with humility, beats the pants off my `work of art` - if only I had designed it to be practical too............:blast

There is a flip side to the "you don't need a big tank" argument. I used to use my 1150GSA to commute into central London. Only 40 or so miles each way but it meant I spent a lot less time arsing about at petrol stations, and when you've finished a days work and just want to bleedin well get home you appreciate that.

Fair point................

+1.

Filling up once a week on a 5 day, 60m round trip commute is a joy.

Sometimes you just can't be fekked to fill up and you end up pushing it too far...and running out.

that sounds like me, would happily carry extra fuel would have saved pushing the heap a mile and almost killing me

There's a parallel to pannier packing and fuel tank capacity though....the more space you have, the more unnecessary stuff (kit or fuel) you take.

If you have smaller panniers, you plan to take less with you and it's still fine.

I accept that it might enable you to fill up less on a daily commute, but is the weight addition worth that extra day between fill ups?
(even if topping up from a Rotopak is less aggro that topping up a normal tank at the local petrol station? which I doubt :blast)

So, the commuting thing is written off?

I doubt more than 1% of GSers have ever NEEDED that much spare fuel on board

Bling.

Fanny rating 1.3/10

You are the harshest judge since Micky Most on New Faces in 76! :roll

That's very kind of you and yes please, any sizes patterns etc would be appreciated. I'm very busy but If you didn't mind I would get on with it as soon as I could.

Mark - OK - I will do some measuring etc and take some photos of possible mounting points & send to you for comments probably by post with a covering note. Unlikely in very short term and no rush so far as I am concerned - might pop up and scrounge a coffee if you have a quiet moment!

You remain always welcome but please call beforehand so I can do everything possible to make sure that kettle is on!

Mmmm, I remain quite honoured to achieve a 1.3/10 fanny rating :bounce1

Never met Mark, but from my recent dealings with him, he is spot on.

He obliged to help out and supply a piece of Ali cut to my own spec.

I suspect with individual one off little jobs people ask for, if lucky he only just covers his costs, and certainly nothing in it for his time, I wouldn't expect them to be top of his priority list when he has got a business to run and a living to make.

Look forward to meeting Mark and buying a beer for the favour done. :thumb2

Dave, I don't think anyone is questioning Mark's altruism, skills or tosser rating at all......He asked for feedback on an idea, he got it :thumb2

I'd rather tell someone the truth about what I think of an idea than do the worship thing and hear 6 months down the line that he spent a grand developing it and making prototypes and can't sell any :comfort

My opinion is only worth what it cost him though, and it is of course totally up to him what he does :thumb2

Mark I think the GSA has enough range but your spot on the GS on the range. I love my GS particularly on the twisties around my home and in London but when I do a long trip I wish I had the range of the GSA. It also would have been nice to have the extra fuel range of the GSA when I ran out of fuel doing the RBLR1000 Iron Butt as a 45mpg crosswind range sucked my fuel economy dry when I ran out of fuel 1 mile before my first fuel stop on the M6. I found out later I was only getting 42mpg after running out (a guy on a Goldwing who usually gets a 200 mile range was only getting 120 miles between stops so I didn't feel like a numpty). Luckily I had a 3l jerry can on the back. It would be nice to be able to clip on an aux tank in the passenger section when needed that would be tied into the fuel system but I am told it is very difficult due to the way the GS uses high and low pressure fuel hoses and the location. Having had to use extra fuel before by the time you have to remove the can, get petrol all over the place, wipe your hands and bike it is easier just to stop and fill up as normal. That being said this guy had a clever idea but very expensive for what it is.

Exactly and totally agree - thank you - its what I asked for.

I`m kinda guessing that a GSA Rotopak wouldn`t have that much appeal but from recent posts I think that the GS might benefit from it so I may spend some time on that option. Not bothered if I don`t sell many as long as I make it well.

Ta for the feedback, the reason for most of my success is listening to people..........

If I could have afforded it I would have got a 41ltr tank for my GSA... Maybe fabricate new tanks...?

That will be 2 arms and 3 legs please sir...!

You'd be better off not being able to afford the 41Ltr tank you can't afford! :thumb
