At Feckin Last!
Yes your right for a laugh i had a GREEN bonce LOL......ita all back to normal now.
This was at 6.00am at home rode up to meet Tosser Saw at Redhouse A1 then a boat to Aj's the mecca to get there for 7-30am
we had already done all th paperwork and we were both fully paid up members so all the land over was sped up as we were of on a 250 mile route we had in new GPS
SO it was time to get on a ride the new sheds!
Glad the Gerbings and Autocom stuff was on my PMR too Micks connector was not working so we couldn't talk to each other :-( But I could see the Big smile on his face!
I have to say Aj's have been great i always try and focus on a whole package and not just a price, an they have come again with a fair deal and good service when you go to Aj's you are always made welcome unlike some other dealers where you sometime feel invisible (took me look at the size of me)So thats why we have bout 2 GSA's each in less than 12 months. Just hope they keep it up with the after service etc.
So after meeting up with a few pals who had rode up from Rotherham and Lincolnshire we went about our ride.....
I was getting some strange looks when folk saw my 1978 Johnny Rotten hair style lol Its all for fun plus its St Patricks Day soon LOL...
Tosser Saw was still smiling even though we were pissing around with a few setting up points....New GPS did not speak until a few mile then it started...?
There were some cracking roads and i have to say "Olive is a lively girl"
We had all kinds of weather conditions even thick fog!
As i said i was glad for the Gerbings (plus I sell them LOL)

Cake stop and Coffee..........
Mick likes his black screens........... On Weiss
Even Grumpy old Batterham had a smile on his face ...
Some asked me of my thoughts of the new Steed. Well in the few mile see did 250ish and having had 4 other GSA's like many things you always start to compare back to your last bike. I used to do this with GL1800 Goldwings when i had the GTL i could ably compare it back to a wing and in fairness they are totally different bikes. I had only rode a wc gs engine in the GS covered about 800mile sin two or three rides an done speed awareness course ! so i pretty much expected the engine to be lively. The difference is that the heavy flywheel and what ever else bmw have done has smooth fit out somewhat.I found that it was deco better IMHO than the bumpiness of the water bus but that said its very simlar and something i hope i get used to.
Riding it i found that theres a hell of a lot to fanny around with compute raise modes and settings but basically i thought Dynamic was brilliant , and if i was riding familiar roads on my own thats the mode i would be in full stop. However Road mode just tame sit down a tad and again smooths th grunt up a little more, so probably when group riding i would use Road mode. The Rain mode slows it right back like old Duffa's mode (that could be me )
The suspension seems a better ride in all settings had ESA on my last 3 and if you use it you can feel the differences , The brakes are shit hot as you would expect, steering seems easier the whole bike as big and as ugly as it is (a bit like me) it is extremely agile and very nice at slow speeds and tightening up corners. The thing about the riding position i need to get used to is i feel that the riders pegs have been shoved back a tad and lower a tad making you knees point down a bit and it seems less comfy for me at that point,i am 6feet 1inch but Mick also felt it and his knees were hurting. The front seat is narrower and than makes you feet more plantable but also you go bollocks forward in the saddle and the alloy tank where your knees end up is very smooth make sit a little strange again just somert to get used to i hope.
The engine is so much different than the twin cam giving us that extra 15bhp and WC has made it very much like a Ducati/BMW adventure bike Big smile yes but also it has removed the pop pop fart and engine characteristics we all love about the boxer engine . Again not a bad thing as long as i grow to like it as much as i do the old engines.
The screen i was very concerned about the screen after seeing it at the NEC i thought unlike the new RT the new GSA had flimsy looking thinner screen, but after riding A roads B roads and some Motorway work find the screen better than i expected, not a lot different really than the old bike.
when you have the GPS on the Digital speedo the std speedo it becomes a bit of blimey how fast am i going, so there dis a bit of a learning curve for me setting up preferences and getting used to a new GPS if i am honest i would not have changed my 660 if it was not for the fact that the wheel would not work if i didn't can't stand anything on abide that don't work!
The fast gear shift is fun it works great on the up shifts but does take a bit of practice on the down shifts ... good on overtakes. The bike itself has tons of power and the clutch and gearbox are very smooth i found neutral ok and like any otheR new sheD i have bought they always take about 6k to bed in and become a tad looser IMHO.The side stand takes a bit of finding coming from the older GSA to this again it will be a learning thing, still don't like how close the main stand is if you ride ball of you feet position it hits your heel, i am size 13 feet Mick is size 9 but both said same.
My bike came with Anakee 111's Mick's came with Continental trial attacks so it will bbs good comparing? A pal of ours sent his Anakees back cos they were whistling ? don't know what tune LOL but so far above the new WC GSA engines noise (sounds like a bag of spanners) I can't hear the tyres.
As the sun is shining I am now doing a route to the east coast and having talked my good lady to come and have a pillion ride on Olive it will be good to see how it is two up. Good job i had the extra 12v rear socket fitted for her to plug her Gerbings in else she would deco not be coming.
So thats it Excitement over......Lets hop happiness continues.
Ride Safe
