Anyone got rid of the cat but kept the standard can.
Just wondering if it’s possible and if so any difference in performance?

Why not keep the cat and dump the can? makes the bike sound so sweet I keep turning the radio off to listen to it. Total cost 4 US dollars.

Touratech sells replacement headers that is 2mm larger in diameter and gets rid of the CAT.

More info here.

XM with custom in the ear speakers. Sure makes the long strait roads bearable. Also have a $25.00 mixer so I can hear the radar detector and the GPS along with the radio.

Probably because it's illegal in most countries :D

I suppose but dumping the cat is emissions tampering. Also most aftermarket mufflers increase the noise above the government standards which technically makes them illegal also.

Well, at least in the UK, you can buy aftermarket cans that are stamped legal for road use - and you can buy some that aren't. So the legality of fitting a different can is well defined.

I don't think removing the cat would be illegal in the UK, - bikes are not tested for emissions during the MOT test.

David-S,
What exactly have you done there,Its hard to make it out in the photo. Is it a piece of chrome pipeing attached to the CAT?.Do you know if the bike is running leaner or richer since your mod.
