Although I'm down in Kent, I'm going up to Anglesey at the end of May and as I have family up in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh I wondered about jumping across on Stena or Irish Ferries from Holyhead. The journey from Dublin to Enniskillen seems to be mostly motorway and takes about 2:30hrs by the looks of it. I've only even flown to Belfast before and then taken a hire car, via Omagh to Enniskillen.

If I've understood the sailing times, the time to cross is only about 2-3 hours.... which considering the distance seems pretty good to me.

It's quite pricey though... about £70 each way but is there anything else to factor in? Do the ferries do discounts from time to time?

also, any bad experiences with bikes being damaged, when onboard etc?...

Thanks for your help.

Dan

£70 is not steep when you consider what Le Shuttle charge for 35 mins on a train.

Have you looked at the costs from Liverpool to Belfast?

Do you have any Tesco Clubcard points you could use to pay for the trip?

That's true.... but then Eurotunnel would say that convenience and speed comes at a price.... Not sure I have any spare clubcard points to use... my missus generally spends them before I get a look in.

Sorry. You have done that. Probably cheaper option. When you factor in fuel and tolls. JJH
Sorry I missed a key part.... I'm going up to Anglesey on the bike.... with some friends... the plan is to do 3 nights there and then coming down to Herefordshire for 3 nights.

On one of the days they are doing a zipline, karting thing which is something like £130 for a few hours... I'm not that bothered about that and would rather catch a ferry over to the Emerald Isle... and enjoy a trip (even mostly motorway to see my family)..... oh and have a proper Guinness! :)

Irish ferries are the fastest. I went from there last week. I’d just head towards Cavan and then bimble around loch Erne. Depends on the time of day and how much daylight you have, but it’s all lovely so just take your pick of roads.
